• Sessions of 55-60 minutes are scheduled once per week or more frequently, and focus on developing the client’s executive functioning skills in a systematic way. A typical session starts with a review of upcoming tasks, focusing on planning and prioritization, followed by work on a specific task that may incorporate the writing process, study skills, reading comprehension, or specific content — or a combination of these. Along the way, we identify obstacles and problem-solve for these in ways that take the client’s strengths and challenges into account. Sessions address the client’s motivation, self-concept, and self-talk as they relate to academic or professional work. Providers available to schedule 1-1 sessions for 2022-2023 include Hemi, Cristina, Ellen, Eva, and Sarah. Please contact us to set up a brief informational call.

  • Students sign up for a 30-minute slot with a learning specialist after school, often on multiple days per week. During this time, they engage in a brief version of a 1-1 support session, with a focus on developing planning, prioritization, and task initiation skills. Homework Lab is currently led by Anne Venable, and sessions are scheduled Monday through Thursday, 3:30-6:30pm EST. Please contact us for available sessions.

  • Kate Hill offers consultations and coaching support to families related to navigating children’s transitions from one stage or grade to the next, providing context for understanding what is “typical,” and implementing strategies to address specific concerns. Parents often ask for support with addressing children’s learning needs, or concerns that a student is struggling academically; preventing friction related to school tasks or organization; supporting children with specific reading, writing or math skills; implementing screen time or gaming limits to create more time for reading or academics; helping children develop self-regulation skills; putting neuropsychological evaluation recommendations into place; communicating and advocating effectively with school staff; and understanding and facilitating the college transition process while developing the student’s independence.
